The DeMarc's lived at several locations in West Pittsburg and Moravia before settling on Canal St. I believe they lived in this old blue house in West Pittsburg for a time. It's located on Charlemont Ave at the intersection with Fourth St. Photo taken showing "front" of house on Charlemont Ave. Apr 2010. |
A view of the rear of the house and garage taken from Fourth Street. This seems more like the main entrance to the house. Apr 2010. |
My best photo of the front of the DeMarc home. Canal Street is inundated with water from the Beaver River during the Great St. Patrick's Day Flood of March 17-18, 1936. Notice two unidentified boys - one on porch and one paddling small boat. |
This photo of George, Irene, and baby Carol Jean DeMarc shows the rounded columns of the DeMarc front porch. 1948. |
This photo of Charles DeMarc Jr. shows the back porch of the house. Notice the columns are square. Late 1940's. |
This is a photo of Charles & Mary by the smoke house just behind the DeMarc home. Mary would cook inside the smoke house during the summer months. c1930's. |
Photo of the Pitzer home and the old Lutton Saloon during flood of March 1936. Just to the right would be the DeMarc home. |
Photo of Tony Chiarelli (possibly?), Lou DeMarc, Charles DeMarc Jr., and dog Shep. Not sure what house is to the left. 1942. |
Canal Street in about 1962 . Charles Jr.'s first garage made from scrap lumber. The Hervatine home, sitting on the future site of DeMarc Auto Sales, is visible through the front porch of the DeMarc home. |
