Home > Military Memories > En route to Guam - June 1978
In June 1978, we departed Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, en route to our new home on the distant island of Guam in the western Pacific. It is quite a long journey to reach Guam and took us about twenty-four hours. Along the way we had a layover at Travis Air Force Base in Northern California and then a brief stop at Honolulu International Airport in Hawaii. At the airport in Hawaii we took some great photos in a pagoda and on a bridge located in the Dr. Sun Yat-sen garden. I can still remember standing on the bridge with my dad. I returned to this exact spot thirty-one years later in March 2009 and took some similar photos. |
